It’s started. The summer whirlwind of events is upon us with lots of things planned for everyone this summer in and around Sylvan Lake.
Now all we need are those bright, warm sunny days to brighten the smiles on faces in our agriculture and tourist industries.
Every year, while compiling our annual Discover Sylvan Lake magazine, we’re amazed at the number of events, the variety of cultural and ethnic groups involved and the chances for exploration and learning in and around our region.
Whether it’s participatory sports around the lake, or events geared to attract audiences to performing venues, people in our community certainly can’t say there’s nothing to do. In fact, sometimes the decisions on where to be and what to see are tough because there’s so much attracting our attention.
That’s why we’re amazed when we hear people say, “I didn’t know about that”.
This summer we encourage local residents to get out and mingle with the tourists, attend events and you’ll learn more about your community and what makes it tick during the summer.
The volunteers who create successful events certainly have our gratitude for the amazing work they do behind the scenes to promote their interests and enhance our community and our region. Keep up the good work.
We also applaud the business community of Sylvan Lake and the greater region. These people, who we support by shopping locally, are very generous in contributing to the success of events large and small. Just think of some of the things you’ve been involved with and it’s not hard to begin listing those who contribute back to sports and cultural events. Without them, and without the circle of support we’d be a much poorer community.
Let’s continue to build the richness that is the fabric of our quality of life by getting involved, attending and supporting.
