For those who love the game

For those of you who love hockey and are wishing the NHL mess would get resolved; don’t worry … be happy.

Dear Editor,

For those of you who love hockey and are wishing the NHL mess would get resolved; don’t worry … be happy.

Come on down to your local arena and watch hockey that is every bit as exciting as what you used to see on TV. Friday night we watched a game that had the players pumped and the fans yelling … the Midget B2 Lakers (short two players) played their nemesis team from Rocky.

Sixty seconds into the game Rocky scored and lit the match to the game that was to follow. Team captain Charlie Carter led the way with a hat trick; Branden Jehn hammered two more goals; and Blake McLean was unstoppable with two goals.

The Lakers never let up; their players were on a mission. Rocky valiantly fought back but the writing was on the scoreboard: 7-3 for Sylvan.

This game provided many of us with our hockey fix: we got to see outstanding playing by both teams; tempers flared and players were ejected; the penalty box was full at times but we also got to witness a united team take the game home.

Rather than sitting at home watching a blank screen I suggest you look up the game schedule at Sylvan Lake Minor Hockey and come on down!

Watching these dedicated young players is well worth it and if you need a food fix the arena kitchen supplies some of the best food around.

Maureen Elder,

Sylvan Lake
