Former mayor appreciated for role in promenade creation

Thanks to former mayor Susan Samson for her prominent part in creating the lakeside promenade and park we now all enjoy.

Dear Editor,

Thanks to former mayor Susan Samson for her prominent part in creating the lakeside promenade and park we now all enjoy. Even though it was a controversial project at times, she was always a good communicator, willing to talk to people throughout the process regardless of their views.

The current mayor needs to take a page from her book. I tried contacting him several time this past summer regarding matters of concern, but he did not reply even once. His smiling pictures in the newspaper do no earthly good if he cannot take the time to communicate with people personally.

A final comment regarding the supposed Lighthouse Park behind the new marina development that has closed off lake access to the public: Tall walls of expensive condos now block the lake views with only a long, narrow sidewalk connected to the minuscule sliver of land that is supposed to be the park. The old lighthouse should never have been torn down, and a permit should never have been issued for this fiasco.

Craig Little,

Sylvan Lake
