Letter: In support of extended parking for seniors

A Letter to the Editor further discussing parking at the NexSource Centre

To the Editor;

I would like to add my voice in support of the idea proposed by Dale Mannix in the Aug 3, 2017 edition of the Sylvan Lake News.

The Town, the Community and the Senior’s Citizens’ organization co-operated in providing an excellent facility for the seniors at the NexSource Centre. One does not think too often about individuals with limited mobility when the Centre features two hockey rinks, curling rink, walking track, swimming facility, etc. However, there are a significant number of people who are “regular” visitors/attendees at the Centre who do have limited mobility, and I believe the concept for some expanded parking has considerable merit.

I would encourage our Town Council and Public Works Deptartment to consider the feasibility of this idea, and attempt to put something in place before the cold weather arrives with the potential for hazardous walking conditions.

Sincerely,

Barry Virtue
