Looking back over the past year, as we move into a new and exciting Centennial year, we’re thankful that our pages have been graced by the opinions of many of our readers.
The quality of their comments, the diversity of the issues discussed and the interest they’ve evoked in others, have all been appreciated.
One of the roles of a community newspaper in a vibrant municipality is to stimulate thought and expression.
We provide our thoughts and suggestions through editorials and then open a forum for those who chose to respond or raise their own ideas through Letters to the Editor.
At all the newspapers we’ve worked for over a 30+ year career we’ve benefitted from the opinions of others. In Sylvan Lake and environs we find a very engaged community of people who are certainly interested.
The list below, of letter writers from the past year, is another indication of the interest our readers take in their community. It’s a lengthy list.
Thank you for taking the time to thoughtfully make your points and let your friends and neighbours know your ideas through our pages.
Readers of the Sylvan Lake News have enjoyed and debated the comments, we believe.

We’d also be remiss in not thanking the many people who have phoned to let us know about events and story ideas, those who have penned their own information and provided submissions for the paper and those who have taken pictures. We have a small news gathering staff and depend on the assistance of the whole community to produce a newspaper which reflects what’s happening in our area. Your involvement certainly leads to our success.
