Cody athletes brought home area medals; qualified for zones

A number of senior high students at École H. J. Cody High School qualified for zone track and field competition yesterday

A number of senior high students at École H. J. Cody High School qualified for zone track and field competition yesterday at Lindsay Thurber (after press time).

If they placed first or second there they’ll be headed to provincial competition.

The students moved on to zones after placing first or second in their sports during the area track meet last Wednesday at Lindsay Thurber.

In area competition, Aiden Smail (Grade 12) won an aggregate medal for senior boys after finishing second in triple jump, second in hurdles, third in long jump and third in 100 metre race.

Other Cody competitors included:

Grade 10 students

Gallen Donaghy - fourth in high jump.

Braden Bystrom - first in shot put, second in javelin and ninth in 100 metre.

Daisuke Tanaka - fourth in 400 metre.

Xander Plante - second in hurdles, third in 400 metre and fourth in 200 metre.

Wyatt Bosse - first in hurdles and sixth in 100 metre.

Anna Carlson - second in discus, fourth in shot put and fourth in javelin.

Grade 11 students

Landon Rosene - second in 100 metre and second in 200 metre.

Carson Walker - second in high jump and second in hurdles.

Austin Ilcisin - first in discus.

Jordan Curtis - fourth in javelin and sixth in hurdles.

Morgan Nemish - fourth in hurdles.

Grade 12 students

Evan Wilke - first in 100 metre and third in 200 metre.

Brayden Snow - second in high jump.
