Girls relay team crushed two all time club relay records

Four members of Sylvan Lake Nauticals swim team travelled to Medicine Hat to compete, June 8-9.

This was a very exciting meet as the four girls — Lexi Sparrow (14), Elizabeth Moore (12), Amber Carson (14) and Ann Duffy (14) — broke two all-time club relay records. They crushed the previous club relay records by 10 or more seconds. The girls placed second in the 4x50m medley relay (a combination of all four stokes) and third in the 4x50m freestyle relay. What exciting races! Way to go girls!

Lexi Sparrow (14) had a really good weekend earning seven personal best times and making it into two finals. Lexi placed eighth in 50m backstroke and sixth in 200m freestyle.

Elizabeth Moore (12) was in seven races and she earned a spot in seven finals ending with five firsts and two seconds. Elizabeth got five personal best times and broke five club records, taking over 14 seconds off in 200m backstroke.

Amber Carson (14) swam in seven races as well and qualified for seven finals. Amber took two more club records off the board and got five personal best times. Amber placed first in 100m fly and second in 50m backstroke.

Ann Duffy (14) made four out of seven finals. Ann placed fourth in 50m backstroke, fifth in 100m and 200m backstroke and sixth in 400m freestyle. Overall Ann got three personal best times.
