Sylvan Laker Annalise Carlson bent forward to bump the ball while teammate Riley Forhan prepared for her hit during competition in the U16 category of the Alberta Volleyball Association youth beach tournament on the pier Saturday. The pair beat Erin Burrage and Tina Von Gunten from the Rimbey area 25-19 to advance to the next game.
U14 and U18 competition took place Sunday, with U14 girls at Red Deer College due to an increase of about 30 teams this year. Final results weren’t available at press time.
