Local volleyball player finishes eighth with teammates at Pan Am Cup

Sylvan Lake volleyball player Jaimie Thibeault placed eighth overall with her teammates at the Pan Am Cup in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, according to a press release on the Volleyball Canada website.

The Canadian Women’s National A Team lost a ranking-deciding match against Team Peru on July 20, with Peru winning all three games with scores of 25-19, 30-28, and 25-21.

The Canadian team had a total of three wins and five losses in the tournament. The Pan Am Cup was a qualifier for the 2013 FIVB World Grand Prix, an international women’s volleyball tournament. Due to their placing, the Canadian team did not qualify.
