Midget Lakers win big over Cochrane

The Sylvan Lake Midget Lakers continue to impress as they managed to conquer their Central Albertan rival Blackfalds 7-3 on February 4 at the Nexsource Centre.

The high scoring affair didn’t begin as one, as both teams went scoreless before the first flood of the game. Blackfalds finally broke the ice one minute into the second period with a goal from Seth Eckert.

The Lakers would immediately answer a minute later with a goal from Jordan Karcha, followed by another goal at 14:18 from Noah Salsbury. Blackfalds would briefly tie the game on a power play goal by Wade Lightburn before Sylvan would blow the game open on three unanswered goals from Reid Aman, Dylan Mimnagh and Trace Pidherney.

Blackfalds would start the third period with another goal from Eckhert, before Sylvan added two more insurances from Evan Gringhuis and Kien Bowen.

The Lakers would finish the 7-3 game with seven different goal scorers, with Lakers goalie - Cole Currie set to stop 25 of 28 shots.

The Lakers now look ahead to another big home game against Cochrane on February 10.
