Travis Brigley (centre) presented a cheque to Sylvan Lake Minor Hockey for $8,000 from the Central Alberta Young Guns Golf Foundation. Accepting were minor hockey President Daryl Pickering and Vice President Blair Mack.

Brigley said the Young Guns event is organized by young NHL up and comers and NHL players. Every year 10 to 12 organizations benefit from the $130,000-$150,000 raised by the tournament held at Alberta Springs during the summer.

The money donated to the Sylvan Lake organization will be used to help youngsters play hockey who would not otherwise be able to afford to play, said Pickering.

They’re supporting six children this year and helped 10 last year.
