While most of Sylvan Lake’s puck-chasers were just beginning to practise again after a long holiday break, the Pee Wee Lakers were already lacing up their skates for a game on January 3 against the Lacombe Rockets.

A slow first period would start off 2017 Laker hockey with no one being able to find the net until Lacombe Riley Yzerman, #12, found the net at 6:21. The Lakers would respond at 1:21 with their first goal of the game from Hunter Neal, #15.

Following the equalizer, the Lakers would never look back as they would score six unanswered goals, with three goals coming in the second period and two in the third.

Neal, Michael Asher, Justin Lucas and Landyn Sigfusson would all notch one goal, while Zachery Welsh would bang in two past the Lacombe goaltender.

The Lakers play their next home game on January 15 at the Nexsource center after coming off a pair of road games against Eckville and Lacombe.
