Several Nauticals made zone team after hosting trials

Sylvan Lake Nauticals hosted the Zone 4 Alberta Summer Games trials for swimming Sunday. There were 76 athletes trying for 32 spots.

Sylvan Lake Nauticals hosted the Zone 4 Alberta Summer Games trials for swimming Sunday. There were 76 athletes trying for 32 spots.

There were 16 spots available for swimmers born in 1998-1999 (eight boys and eight girls) and 16 spots available for swimmers born in 2000-2001.

The team for Zone 4 is now chosen. Good luck to all of our swimmers in Lethbridge July 26-29.

Coach Trevor and Coach Sharon are excited by the huge turnout at Zone 4 trials. All of our swimmers swam very well. The meet ran very smoothly and was a credit to our parent volunteers. We are proud of everyone who tried out. Special congratulations to Elizabeth Moore and Amber Carson who made the team and Jasmine Hafso, Erin Matthews and Michael Carson who made it as alternates.

The official Zone 4 Alberta Summer Games swim team is:

1998/1999 girls -Amber Carson (Sylvan Lake Nauticals – SLN) Emma Barschel (Red Deer Catalina -RDC), Faith Gette (Innisfail Dolphins – ID), Breana Menzel (RDC), Chayce Moon (RDC), Amber Rohwer (RDC), Gwendalin Wilson (unattached) and Amy Cookson (Camrose Sea Serpents – CSS). Alternates are Kianna Mora-Game, Cameron Gau (CSS), Erin Matthews (SLN), and Jasmine Hafso (SLN).

1998/1999 boys – Korben Johnson (RDC), Josh Gette (ID), Tyler Gauthier (RDC), Daniel Stayer (RDC), Austin Jerke (Wetaskiwin – W), Marcos Horscheck (RDC), Matthew Gauthier (RDC) and Chad Sieben (CSS). Alternates are Ashton Soosay (Ponoka Gators – PG), Carter Rolston (CSS), Dylan Bloomfield (RDC) and Turner Brooks (W).

2000-2001 girls – Elizabeth Moore (SLN) Clair Halfort (Red Deer Marlins – RDM), Kennedy Townsend (RDC), Tanille Collicut (Rocky Mountain House – RMH), Emalie Unrah (RDM), Emalee Broen (RDC), Mikaela Duncan (RDC), Ashley White (CSS). Alternates are Hanna Gau (CSS), Michelle Hunszinger (RDC), Sara Valentine (ID), Kira Kinder (ID).

2000-2001 boys – Dylan MacDermaid (RDC), Justin Valentine (ID) Tyler Menzel (RDC), Noah Andrews (RDC), Jack Barschel (RDC), Jared Schultz (RDC) Jared Elliot (W) and Bryan Schaerer (RDC). Alternates are Carson Rodin (CSS), Michael Carson (SLN), Bennette Rolston (CSS), Keelan Armstrong (RDM).

Good luck to all these swimmers in Lethbridge. Show the rest of Alberta the strength of Zone 4 swimmers.

Sylvan Lake Nauticals would like to thank all of the Nautical parents who helped and all the parents from the other clubs who also helped with officiating and keeping the swim meet running well. Special thanks to Karyn Duffy who was the meet manager and put a lot of time and effort into this meet. Also Coach Sharon who is head coach for the Zone 4 team and also put in a lot of time getting this event organized. She still has a lot of time commitment involved with training the Zone 4 team.
