Fierce competition

Competition was fierce, while collisions and spills were part of the game when sometimes sheer-footed broomball players took part in provincial championships at Sylvan Lake’s multiplex on the weekend.

Friday night’s match-up between the Sylvan Lake Seamen (black) and Sylvan Lake Boatmen (white) was one of the games in the men’s intermediate category. The Boatmen won 5-0 and posted a 2-2 record while the Seamen were 0-3. The Boatmen went on to win silver following a defeat in the gold medal game by Edmonton Chaos.

Edmonton Impact claimed the Men’s Elite championship and Edmonton claimed the women’s championship.

Twelve teams competed in four pools with others coming from Calgary and Lethbridge. Sylvan Lake Lakers, competing in the exhibition pool, finished with a 1-1 record.
