Sylvan Lake Minor Hockey Association (SLMHA) will have a new look in the 2015/16 season after branding and logo updates were announced earlier this week.

SLMHA last implemented logo and jersey changes in fall 2007. The need for a new look, according to President Blair Mack, was “way overdue.”

“This has been in the works for quite some time,” he said. “It has been eight years since the association has updated its look, and we felt the timing was right.”

Jon Gulayets, who chaired the committee leading the re-branding, described the process as a “labour of love” for those involved with it.

“It took many hours, ideas and designers, but we couldn’t be happier with the final product,” he said. “It speaks about our game, our community and our nation.”

Gulayets commended graphic artist and design challenge winner Jason Villanti of Redpin Designs for his work on the project. Without it, Gulayets said, the “project was not possible.”

“Jason was great to work with as his creativity, designs and work ethic were exceptional.”

New-look jerseys featuring the new logo have already been ordered, with jerseys for some age divisions set to arrive slightly later than others.
