Sylvan Lake Pirates find dock in nearby port

The Pirates inaugural season will have games held in nearby Bentley

The North Central Senior Hockey League expansion team, the Sylvan Lake Pirates, will be flying their colours down the road in Bentley.

Due to the scarcity of available ice times in Central Alberta, the Pirates were unable to secure ice time in Sylvan Lake for home games. However, the team successfully booked ice time in neighbouring Bently, only 18 minutes away.

The team will still be based out of Sylvan Lake and will be holding practices at the NextSource Centre.

The Pirates hope to generate interest and excitement in the team as the season progresses and welcome inquiries by all those interested in becoming a player, or supporting and sponsoring the team.

The Pirates will be joining expansion teams from Red Deer (the Red Deer team is revamping the old Rustlers moniker) and Maskwacis this upcoming season.

The AA league that will comprise 11 teams including the Eckville Eagles, the Daysland Northstars, and the Bonnyville Pontiacs. The teams will play in a competitive hit-league that promises to be fast and entertaining.

While the schedule for the forthcoming season is not readily available, the Pirates hopes to play in the neighbourhood of 16 games beginning this October.
