Two game winning streak for Yettis

After starting out the season one-and-one, the Sylvan Lake Yettis have rebounded with back-to-back wins over the weekend.

The Yettis lacrosse team first faced off against the Strathmore Venom. Sylvan Lake came out on top during the April 21 home game, with a score of 13-3.

From the first period the Yettis outpaced the Venom. Cameron Tubbs and Tristen Hess both scored early in the first period and gave the team an early lead of 2-1.

The Yettis took off like a shot in the second period. Over the course of the 20-minute period, the Yettis scored a total of seven times.

While playing a tough and fast offence, the team made sure to stay tight defensively. The Venom made it through the team only once in the second period.

With one last period to play the Yettis had a comfortable eight-point lead, 10-2.

The final frame of the game played out much the same as the earlier two. The Yettis racked up another four points and only let in one.

Following the win at home, the Yettis travelled to Calgary to play against the Sabrecats on April 22 for close to a repeat performance.

The Yettis beat the Calgary Sabrecats 1-2.

Just like the game the day before, the Yettis dominated the court. In the first period the team boxed out the Sabrecats while securing a four point lead.

Even with an impressive offensive display, the Yettis once again showed their progress on the defence. The Sabrecats were only able to find a break and successfully connect with the ball twice in the entire game.

The two points scored by the Sabrecats was during the second period of the game, while the Yettis picked up another six points.

With one period left to play during the weekend games, the Yettis lead 10-2.

With one last point earned in the final minutes of play by the the Sylvan Lake team walked away with another win under their belts.

With the win in Calgary on April 22, the Yettis now have a 3-1 season.

The Yettis will next play at home on April 29, when they host the Medicine Hat Sun Devils. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
