Sylvan Lake Wave U14 girls’ volleyball team finished its season on a high note!

After finding out that they wouldn't be able to stay in Sylvan Lake and play in front of family and friends for their Division 2 provincial finals, the U14 girls travelled to Calgary for the event Saturday and Sunday.

The girls had a slow start, playing four games, and found themselves, after Saturday was done, playing on the consolation side.

This obviously didn't slow them down because they came out Sunday morning and won their first game against Dawson Creek two sets to zero. Their second win, against Park Power from Sherwood Park, two sets to one, put them into the final facing the Prowl, who they had faced the day before in their round robin.

The girls came out strong but lost the first set 20-25. They turned it around and won the second set 25-21. In the tie breaker set, the girls must have wanted it more, as they put the match away with a convincing win beating the Lethbridge Prowl 15-6, thus giving them a medal in the consolation final.

With the win the U14 girls finished a solid ninth place in Division 2. Awesome job ladies!

On behalf of all the other parents, a huge thank you to coaches Rhonda and Travis Carpenter.
