Wakeboarders brought home medals from provincials

Several Sylvan Lake riders won medals at the Alberta Wakeboard provincials at Shalom Park in Edmonton the weekend of Aug. 17-18.

Several Sylvan Lake riders won medals at the Alberta Wakeboard provincials at Shalom Park in Edmonton the weekend of Aug. 17-18.

Solomon Wynnyk, age 5, the youngest competitor at provincials, took bronze (third) in the boy’s under 11 category. This was his first contest.

Jeremy Howsam took bronze in the men’s advanced division.

Levi Wynnyk took silver in the men’s outlaw division.

Nakita Schaab of Lacombe placed first in the under 15 girls division.

In addition two Red Deer riders who are students of “Sylvan Wake”, a Sylvan Lake based wakeboard school, also came home with medals. Barbara Bradley won a silver medal in women’s beginner and Luke Bradley won gold for men’s intermediate division.

Everett Nielsen of Calgary, who spends all his time riding in Sylvan Lake, placed third in men’s open division.
