Thanks to “protein” and “low carb” diets, the awareness of carbohydrate levels is very prevalent in our society. However, starches are making their way back to our dinner tables. Besides pasta and potatoes, rice is always a favorite accompaniment on our plates, and there are many varieties available to us. Are they all so bad? Not really, but let’s look at our choices and compare them to Quinoa.

Part of my work at the library is capturing our activities on camera, and it’s always a blast getting to watch people of all ages learn, create, and play at the library. Puppet shows, art classes, celebrations of all kinds … one of my favourites was a royal tea party that featured a visit from a staff member in an inflatable dinosaur suit: the Tea Rex!

Canadians are hurting more than ever. Being at events throughout my constituency in the past number of weeks has shown me the depth of this. The combined cost of living crisis, confusion and backlog of federal benefits, and mental health crisis is taking a huge toll on Canadians, especially our senior citizens on a fixed income.

All set for another exciting season

In my past life as a first responder I would push myself as long and as hard as I could, often to my own detriment.

This past weekend we had enough of annoying each other indoors and took it outside.

We need a break! Workdays are long, chores at home are never-ending, family is rewarding but also hard work, and the pandemic is wearing everybody down. If there has ever been a time when people should take advantage of reading as an escape, it’s now.
